Security Features.

We began designing the Security Locker product system by thinking back to the locker thefts we have seen over the years. They happen. So we designed a feature to foil each of the methods we’ve seen. The result is a strong, tough locker that boasts:

• An opaque door that maintains the privacy of your goods
• An unbreakable 6′ continuous hinge on that door
• Overlapped corrugated sheeting on the door face
• A full-length door striker to resist crowbar attacks
• 9ga Expanded Metal transom panel welded into a steel frame
• 2 x 1/4″ thick steel hasps to resist bolt cutters

These lockers are so good that we think the weakest link has now become cheap locks purchased by the final user. Otherwise, even a determined thief with an angle grinder is going to be have a hard time getting into one of these lockers.

Locker Construction.

Post: Each locker begins with a 2″sq ERW steel post which is anchored to the floor and the underside of the slab using an expansion bolt. This sturdy column is then used to support the door and walls.

Walls: We chose to use corrugated steel for the walls because it is light but rigid and cannot be kicked-in. Security Lockers employ 2 type of corrugated walls:

1. Front Panels are made using a 12ga steel frame into which a corrugated sheet is welded.
2. Interior walls are constructed of overlapped corrugated sheets held from above and below in a 2″ deep steel channel. The channels are fastened to the post and wall using a custom brackets inserted into the tube and secured with metal screws and pin-bolts.

Ceilings are constructed using 2″ x 2″, 10 ga. welded wire mesh held within a 12ga. steel frame. To maintain security + access to any services running above the lockers, ceilings can be removed only from inside the unlocked locker.

Metal Finishes:

• Corrugated walls are finished with a silver galvalume coating.
• All other parts are finished with a VOC-free baked enamel powder coat

Colours:

• The walls, post and ceilings of our lockers are always silver.
• Door Colour can be customized. Silver, Grey, Blue, Black and Red have been popular choices thus far.

Transom.

Transom is the panel between the top of the locker and the ceiling.

Code (NFPA 13) requires that the top of the locker can be no taller than 18″ below the sprinkler deflector.

Given this, the transom serves 2 important purposes:

1. It prevents storage on top of the locker that may interfere with sprinkler operation.
2. It prevents a thief from gaining access from the top of the locker.

Storage rooms often have pipes, vents and conduit of all kinds running on the ceiling. Security Lockers do not mix well with overly complicated ceilings, however transom panels can be fitted to accommodate where required.
